Giving Back To The Community

One of our Fearless team members was recognized for their volunteer work in the community!

You may have heard a quote by Helen Dyer that says, “Volunteerism is the voice of the people put in action. These actions shape and mold the present into a future of which we can be proud.”

Today, we’re proud to feature one of our Fearless team members, Anna Siwakoti, for her work in the community!

Anna was recently recognized by the Volunteer and Information Centre of Hastings and Prince Edward Counties (VIQ) at their 2022 Volunteer of the Year awards and breakfast held at the National Air Force Museum of Canada.

Nominated by the Trenton Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC), Anna took home the Business Volunteer of the Year Award for her work with the centre.

“When I first found out I had been nominated, I was absolutely honoured to even be considered. I cannot thank the Trenton MFRC enough,” says Anna Siwakoti, owner of Fearless Wellness Centre. “I remember when I first moved here and knew absolutely no one. Connecting with the MFRC was my first way of making connections, volunteering within the community, and they even helped me get my first job in the area.”

Over the past five years, Anna has partnered with the Trenton MFRC to offer discounted and free events and workshops to military families locally and across Canada. She’s also one of three lead connectors for the Family Connections Program and worked with their HERC program to mentor local business owners who are new to the area.

“There are so many wonderful and caring entrepreneurs in the Bay of Quinte deserving of this award. I am incredibly grateful to the Trenton MFRC. Over the years, they have supported me through deployments and as a local entrepreneur. This area has become our chosen home instead of our chosen for us home,” says Siwakoti. “I cannot thank the VIQ enough for putting on this incredible event. To all the sponsors, thank you! To all the other volunteers in the Bay of Quinte, thank you for all that you do. Without you, this community would not be as strong or as connected as it is today. You truly make a difference.”

Volunteers make communities work. Individuals, families, and entrepreneurs bring knowledge, experience, connections, and care to their communities. They are essential to helping offer services that may otherwise not be available.

“I remember growing up and seeing my mother be actively involved in the community. It had a great impact on myself and those around me,” states Siwakoti. “I also know that the programs I love and use are often volunteer based. If there is something I can offer my community for it to grow and flourish, I want to and am willing to do it.”
